Foundation and PAC Services
Many associations establish foundations and PACs. The Sherwood Group
has experience in establishing and managing these specialized organizational
structures, which add to an association's ability to serve its members
by extending its educational, public affairs and funding opportunities
within the most advantageous tax framework.
In 2002, for example, The Sherwood Group helped the International Society
for Traumatic Stress Studies establish the independent Trauma Foundation
Inc. to promote research and education in the field of traumatic stress.
The Sherwood Group also has experience in managing fund-raising events
and campaigns to enable client organizations to fund special projects
and enhance membership value.
Typical foundation and fund-raising services include:
- Establishing new foundations, PACs, etc. under legal guidelines
- Assisting with governance and operations, including bylaws and operations,
maintenance of tax status maintenance
- Assisting with integrating these structures into association and association
leadership activities
- Financial management, including funding (member contributions, association
contributions, outside donations, foundation membership dues, grants,
etc.), budgets and financial reporting
- Developing and implementing programs, including scholarship programs,
training, research, educational programs, charitable activities and
