Advocacy & Public Education

The Sherwood Group supports public education and advocacy work as prioritized by the board of directors. Whenever possible, staff responds to calls for information, specialized resources, or media inquiries by ensuring the call is fielded by the appropriate content expert. Staff will not speak on behalf of the organization unless directed to do so.

Sherwood staff supports this effort through:

  • Developing advocacy materials for dissemination by members or online access
  • Creating public education events
  • Managing public relations and media relations campaigns
  • Developing Web sites that provide unbiased educational content and helpful resources for the lay audience
  • Staff helplines and refer callers to necessary resources
  • Set up internal "first responder" networks to field calls quickly and appropriately
